Project Rescue – rebuilding of the online store

Spratt Consulting joined the ranks of this ‘Project Rescue’ project in September 2013, Project Managing the rebuild of the Makro Online Store. Makro is South Africa’s biggest retail store, owned by Massmart Holdings Ltd.

Contracting to Makro through its digital agency Quirk, Spratt Consulting was responsible for managing and coordinating the numerous teams of suppliers and consultants involved in the project. In collaboration with one another, the teams achieved a successful (albeit stressful) rebuild of the Makro Online Store, phase 1 of which launched on time on 1 April 2014.

Some of the main project outputs include: store build (back- and front-end), design, CSI and look-and-feel, SABC TV License integration, integration of various payment gateways and systems including Thawte ™, Visa/MasterCard and eBucks, hover-over zoom-view of every product in every catalogue, copy supply and research, building of separate trolleys to accommodate various ‘Specials’ functionalities and many more. Every aspect of this project is fully legally compliant and in line with industry best-practices.
